Karen Presley is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of The Legacy Tribe. She has a unique background combining legal, engineering, technology commercialization experience, and partnership development. With more than 25 years of experience, Karen led and served as a key contributor for developing partnerships and frameworks to enable the sharing and commercialization of intellectual property (IP) for the government.
Her experience includes serving as Deputy Director for the Office of Research and Technology Applications (ORTA) for the National Security Agency (NSA) and working as an IP attorney in the Washington DC area. She has also worked as a patent examiner with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, an electrical engineer with the FBI, a Computer Systems Engineer within the private sector, and an adjunct professor in the Graduate Cybersecurity Policy Program at the University of Maryland Global College.
Karen earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina A&T State University. Additionally, she is a barred attorney with a Juris Doctor degree from Texas Southern University and a Master of Laws degree (LL.M) in IP from George Washington University Law School, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from New York University.
